Why we are born to believe in God


A recent newspaper article suggests that humans are programmed to believe in God because, researchers claim, it gives them a better chance of survival. Read more here.

  1. I've seen this before, there was a documentary about it on the BBC, I think. Epilepsy and the temporal lobe. The temporal lobe is responsible for things like feeling god and seeing angels. Also for seeing aliens and ghosts, just to get that into perspective.

    Just because we're programmed to believe in god doesn't mean it exists. I'm sure the same benefits are present in Hinduism as they are in Islam as they are in neo-paganism. For all the athiests out there, you can get similar benefits by saying mantras and meditating. There's really no need to pray, as such.

    I think that's more to do with the mental image a murderer wore it, than it is to do with superstitious belief that some murdering tendancies will attach themselves to you if you put on a peice of cloth.
